Wizkid pays tribute to Don Jazzy weeks after calling him an influencer

Nigerian superstar Wizkid paid tribute to veteran music producer Don Jazzy, just weeks after referring to him as an influencer.

The heartfelt acknowledgment underscores the deep respect and admiration Wizkid holds for Don Jazzy, who has been a pivotal figure in the African music industry.

Wiz, known for his global hits and significant contributions to Afrobeats, took to social media to express his appreciation for Don Jazzy.

Weeks ago, the Joro hitmaker caused a stir on social media following a subtle diss at the music legend, however, it appears that social media users blew the incident beyond proportion as the two music stars made no issue out of it.

Wizkid took time to bond and converse with his followers on X, which birthed the words of tribute to Jazzy.

"Don Jazzy! Amazing human!!!" the afrobeat star wrote.

Odumodublvck claims Ayra Starr, Tems have done bigger things than Wizkid, Burna Boy, Fela Kuti

Odumodublvck gives Tems and Ayra Starr their flowers

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck sparked a significant debate in the African music scene when he asserted that female artists Ayra Starr and Tems have achieved more substantial accomplishments than their male counterparts Wizkid, Burna Boy, and the legendary Fela Kuti.

This claim has ignited conversations about the evolving dynamics in the music industry, gender roles, and the criteria for measuring success.

Speaking in a recent interview on the Cocktails and Takeaways podcast, hosted by Madame Joyce, the rapper praised Ayra and Tems' achievements, as they've been able to reach the peak despite the challenges most female musicians face.

“When I was coming to London, I was on the same flight with Tems’ manager, Don Awon. I told Tems, ‘Big up, you did it. What you and Ayra Starr have done is bigger than anything Wizkid, Burna Boy and even Fela have done. Quote me anywhere," he said.

“Because as a female artiste, out of every 10 show promoters, 5 want to have s3x with you, out of every 10 producers, 5 want to have s3x with you, out of every 10 artists that you look up to and need help from them, 5 want to have s3x with you."

“I can’t imagine being in that situation. And after dodging all those things, you still make good music. Remember, the number one hardest job in this world is being a woman."

“The second hardest job is being an artiste because there are over 100 million artistes. How are you going to make it out of the thousands of songs that drop every day? Why should they listen to your own?" he added.

“It’s not like you’re doing a job where your payment is guaranteed. As an artist, there’s no guaranteed payment, you’ve to make it for people to pay you. It took me about six years to get my first good cheque. So imagine being a babe and an artiste and you still make it. That’s impressive.”

Simi opens up on what inspired her upcoming album, "Lost and Found"

Simi announces new album, "Lost and Found"

Simisolo Bolatito Ogunleye, famously known as Simi announced her studio album titled Lost and Found.

On Tuesday, the Nigerian singer penned down the inspiration behind the album title.

"For most of my life, I have enjoyed the privilege of knowing myself deeply, unwaveringly, truly. In more recent years, I have also endured the discomfort of losing myself. Sometimes, to make room for something else that I needed to be - other times, because I could not, for the life of me, find my way. I felt like a stranger to myself. This version of me has been the hardest one to look at in the mirror," she wrote.

Simi further talked about the making of the project and how it relates to finding herself.

"Making this album is a symbol of finding parts of myself again that I hoped I hadn't lost permanently. I don't believe that we ever stop finding ourselves. If you're willing to look, there's always more. This is a tribute to the things we continue to find and rediscover."

"When I sing, I do it first for me, then for you. In this order, because I can not give what I do not have. "LOST AND FOUND" is about me reclaiming my chemistry with music, melody, and love stories. I hope you feel it too when you listen. I hope you enjoy it, regardless of the journey that brought it to you. Experience it, knowing that nobody can bring you, what I can. What I have. What I will," Simi concluded the note.

The album's release date is July 5.

Simi's husband reacted to the post by encouraging his wife's fans to anticipate the album.

"LET ME JUST TELL YOU SIMI ARMY, YOU ARE ABOUT TO HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE! WAKE UP SIMI ARMY! LOST AND FOUND IS EVERYTHING!" Adekunle Gold wrote.

Portable disses Davido, Zlatan after link up in America

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable made headlines this week as he constantly calls out people who he perceives to be in the wrong.

The Zazu crooner trolled Zlatan and Davido following their lovely linkup in the past.

A few weeks ago, Portable met with Davido in America and he was gifted new Dior sneakers.

The video of their meeting went viral on social media and got people talking.

However, Portable recently revealed in a Live chat that Zlatan attempted to taint his relationship with 001.

He said: “When Davido took me clubbing in America, Zlatan called him on a video call and he gave the phone to me. Zlatan started warning me to behave myself around Davido."

"Why would you call Davido while we were together and try to pick a fight with me on the phone for chilling with Davido? Did Wizkid not give you a chance? Why is Zlatan angry seeing me with Davido?”

Portable further accused Davido of giving him bad advice; the controversial singer celebrated Olamide and Skepta for helping him without trying to destroy him.
