#CelebrityScope7 (WcW) - 'Yemi Alade'

(WcW) - Woman Crush Wednesday! - 'Yemi Alade'.

Yemi Eberechi Alade was born on March 13, 1989 in Abia State Nigeria. Her father, James Alade – a Police Commissioner– is of Yoruba origin while her mother Helen Uzoma is of Igbo origin resulting in her being referred as "Yoruba-Igbo girl". She’s from Ondo State,South West,Nigeria. Alade is the fifth out of the seven children in her family. She attended St Saviour British Primary School, then went on to Victory Grammar School in Lagos, before obtaining a degree in Geography at the University of Lagos.
Alade made her musical debut in an all-girl group called Noty Spices in 2005, but her music became widely popular after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009. She later released her first single "Fimisile" under the Jus' Kiddin' label.
In 2012, she signed onto the music label, Effyzzie Music Group, and released her single "Ghen Ghen Love"
In July 2013, Alade released the video for her afro-R&B song "Bamboo", produced by Fliptyce. "Bamboo" went on to be a moderate hit and a popular wedding song. In the last quarter of 2013, her single, "Johnny", produced by Selebobo was leaked on the internet. The song became an international hit in Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, and the United Kingdom, among others. At the time it had no accompanying music video.
Alade has been featured on the covers of several magazines and performed around the world, sharing stages and songs with Mary J Blige, Shina Peters, M.I, Wizkid, Becca, May D, Waje and Yemi Sax. She also headlined the Super Diva’s Nite at the 2013 Calabar Festival, and opened for the 2013 Headies Awards.
In 2014, Alade was featured on Yungsix’s track "Lights", as well as on a remix of "Sebiwo" by Beninese afropop star Lace. Alade teamed up with cinematographer Clarence Peters to create a music video for "Johnny", which was released in March 2014 to critical acclaim and now has more than 100 million views on YouTube, as of June 2018.
Alade joined M.I, Waje, Timi Dakolo, and Burna Boy in singing the theme song for Port Harcourt, the UNESCO 2014 World Book Capital, as part of a project urging young people to read and stay in school. Shortly after that, Alade released a new single entitled "Tangerine", featuring Selebobo; the track charted across Africa. She appeared as a guest artist on Falz’s debut album.
She released her debut album, King of Queens, on 2 October 2014, and then went on tour. Alade then released her second studio album, titled Mama Africa, in March 2016.
In 2018, she released a well accepted tune entitled "Oh My Gosh" “Feel for You”, “Bum Bum”, etc.

No one can take the "Mama Africa" title from her anytime soon.

#TopGists2 - 'Adekunle cramping Falz's style to win SiMi'

How Adekunle Gold “cramped the style” of FALZ (the baddi guy!) to win SiMi!!!

While messages congratulating the singers on their alleged wedding ceremony flooded the social media, instead of joining the likes of Davido, Ric Hassani, Don Jazzy, and many other celebrities who congratulated them, FALZ (the baddi guy) posted the picture of a crying child on Twitter, a post which has been concluded to portray his mood as at the time he received the news.

Recall that at some point Falz was rumoured to be romantically involved with Simi but both singers rubbished the claims on different occasions, insisting that they were mere friends. “I’m not dating Falz. I was not dating Falz. I never said I was dating Falz”, Simi had insisted during an interview session on Wazobia Max’s ‘Talk Talk’.

Though she admitted being in a romantic relationship during an interview but she refused to reveal the identity of the person for personal reasons. “I always like to keep my personal life away from the public. All I can say is that I am in a relationship but I just don’t want to disclose the person’s name”, she had said. She also explained how she met Adekunle Gold, but declined to speak on her relationship with him. “When I met Adekunle Gold, I just knew him as a graphic artist, popularly referred to as the ‘King of Photoshop’. I didn’t even know he was a singer, but we just became close from there.”

I love Adekunle Gold, and we are happily married now! – SiMi.

#LoveTuesdays2

“Anytime I go downstairs to make something for myself, I always make food for my husband”
- (Tiwa Savage on pulse TV Interview)

Hold on. Let’s rewind…back to the beginning. TJ (TeeBillz - Tiwa's husband) said: “my wife has not cooked for me for 3 years”; and here we hear (his wife) saying: 'I only make food (for him) when I feel like going downstairs to make food FOR MYSELF'…

C’mon!

Even though we criticize the men ALWAYS in a ‘wive-husband-separation’ issue, let us take some time-out to look at the truth sometimes: I believe the Number 1 objective of a wife is to satisfy and take care of her family (which her husband is paramount – because she (the wife) BEGINS the family with him, and him only). A wife should put her husband’s needs first before anything else. Yes; it is understandable, whereby having wealth can make you be able to pay for a cook (as she (Tiwa) claims) and all that, but it doesn’t take the place of you (his wife) taking your rightful position and taking care of your husband at all times.

From research, it has been proven that 85% of cheating men do it because of some level of “dis-satisfaction” towards their wives. (Yes. sometimes men can be over demanding, but well, that’s what love got to do…but with time they tend to balance up!) “Men can be ‘insatiable’”, some women will claim; Hence “even when you give them everything, they will still run outside…” many will say again.

I disagree with the above statement.

Why? Because men are like that ‘stubborn babies’ they have been since childhood. The boys we have as kids, they act (and are) the same as the men women deal with today. If you give a man what he wants, (and be consistent with it) with time, it will “reshape” his mentalities, and bring him to an understanding that he usually tells himself: “this is good for me”, and most of the most times, he sticks to it.

The problem is in the consistency (or ‘inconsistency’) of the distribution (so to speak) of what a wive should give to her husband; (yes, it's true, some men can be difficult "to balance up", well, that's what love got to do with it...and the wive has the job to do it...It's marriage!) Unfortunately, some women lack patience in seeing an obvious result from the man, and when this is not forth coming (soon, or immediately – which it never does come so soon, but over time), the woman will lack optimism. (This is a common case in early marriage separations – separations within the first 5 years).

So what then? If it happens to be that it is only when you “feel like” making food, is when you make food for your husband, then…Hmmm** Tiwa, Tiwa, I think you got it all wrong on that one!

Another thing (please, please, please) folks, stop going out there (so fast) to tell people what’s going wrong in your home!!!! No, No, No! STOP!

Like a native saying goes: “you don’t go out telling everyone how you washed your bum….” Lolz** But as true as it is, it’s same thing in marriage. You paid for the bills, you feed him, you wash his dirty linens, etc, everything that happens, happened INSIDE A COVERING called MARRIAGE. It should not be exposed. No! No! No! If everyone (great and small today) were to come and tell you everything that happened (and it’s still happening) in their marriages, you may or may not believe.

#CelebrityScope4 - 'Banky W'

Can Banky Win?

Nigerian entertainer, Olubankole Wellington, popularly called Banky W, has declared his intention to run for a seat in the House of Representatives. The singer cum actor seeks to represent Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos. Banky W, 37, said he would run under the Modern Democratic Party, a political party founded in 2017 by some youth associations. The party is led by Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, a 27-year-old youth activist and entrepreneur. According to Banky:- “There is a need for renewed hope and results, just like the rest of Nigeria”; he noted at the convention. “Our generation needs a realistic rallying point. We need to begin in community, earn our way into the system and up the ladder. We need someone to stick their neck out and pave the way. The problem is that we’ve always looked only to our leaders for change… instead of looking in the mirror and at the neighbors around us. Isn’t it ironic that we are the ones we’ve been waiting for all along?”; “I have shared this vision with quite a few people. Some have been incredibly supportive, but some have advised against it. I am under no illusions that this run will be easy. Considering who we are going up against, this is almost impossible. They said we don’t have the money to run… we say our strength lies in our numbers. They said we don’t have the structure, we say we will attempt to build it. They said “what if you lose”? I say, what if we win?”; ‘’The declaration event was attended by professionals, celebrities, fans and citizens. It featured speeches by Jumoke Adenowo, founder of AD Consulting; Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre and MI Abaga, CEO of Chocolate City. Others included Maryam Laushi, National Publicity Secretary of Modern Democratic Party (MDP) and Bukunyi Olateru-Olagbegi, founder and chairman of the party.

#TopGists1 - 'Davido vs. Wizzy'

First of all, let’s remember that Davido has beat Wizkid by net worth. He is richer. And on Twitter Davido has 1.4 million followers, while Wizkid has just crossed the bar of 1 million followers. It is hard to say, who is more popular.
Now, Davido was offered a deal worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, one album, with the option of more, depending on the performance of the project. OBO also lost his creative control, which required that a team from Sony will handle his A&R. They would have to fund his work with new producers, tweak his sound, and get him to create a hybrid version of the African flavor, which they can market to global audiences as the new wave. Wizkid also received the same deal, although it was announced later than Davido’s. His contract had more financial backing, RCA was his home, and he needed to tweak his sound, which would ensure that he had a strategy to breaking even on the international stage. Already, he had begun to make his mark on that stage, working with Tinie Tempah, Drake, TY Dollar Sign, Justine Skye, Zara Larsson and many more. Based on the strength of their Sony deals, Wizkid is rated as a greater international prospect, and he took home a bigger pay.
For 2017, Davido’s local impact is incomparable. OBO is killing it, with the success of his record ‘If’, which has reignited his career and made him a hot artist again. The single is one of the biggest songs out of Africa, with R. Kelly covering it. It has restructured the story around the singer, injecting a huge dose of positivity. Davido has also released his second single ‘Fall’ which instantly raved and is receiving acceptance on a mass level. The singer’s influence back home has grown, and his ’30 billion for the account’, has created a pop culture phrase. He is crushing it right now at the local level. Wizkid on his part has come through with ‘Daddy Yo’, which was a mellow hit. Other singles have focused their core promotion outside the country. 'Çome Closer’ is coasting in Nigeria, but new song ‘African Bad Gyal’ which features Chris Brown is gathering some storm. At the moment, Davido is ahead on this one at the local level. But Wizkid is pushing his international credentials. Davido takes this one based on his transformation and pure heat from his hits. He is holding the home front down.
According to Soundscan, Next Big Sound and a lot of other music business analytical softwares the following numbers are from both artists within the past year. But some still argue that Davido has got nothing due to his dry spell and lukewarm releases, and that Wizkid won big at NEA, The Headies, AFRIMMA, MOBO, MTV EMA, MAMA, SMA, GMA, APA, TCA, Billboard, iHeartradio Music Awards, Echo Awards.
Though career wise, Wizkid has 42 major awards, while Davido owns 29.

#LoveTuesdays1

These days it seems divorce is not too far fetched like it was 20 or 30 years ago. I can remember in the days of our parents, it was almost as if the word ‘divorce’ only existed in the dictionary. Our parents never believed in divorce (not like issues that would cause divorce never came up between them) but one way or the other, the never allowed that final blow of divorce to take place.

Considering the issues about these two supposed love birds, I guess it’s just an unfortunate case of: “The Initial-mind-set problem” between couples.

For EVERY relationship to thrive and grow, and become exemplary, the foundation MUST be SOLID. The way a relationship kicks off, determines how far that relationship can (or will) go.

For instance:

If a relationship begins with sex (yes! that’s wrong) it sure won’t get too far; coz the desire which brought it into existence will fizzle away like the whisking trail of the night fire fly.

If a relationship begins with a (false) satisfaction of elevation in social strata (like when a person thinks that by dating (or marrying) someone of great repute he or she has great repute too) – that relationship will run out of gas, when the other person begins to feel “I’m beginning to get far bigger than you”.

If one person in the relationship is psychologically insecure (like when the person “thinks” that there’s a ticking time bomb buried somewhere in the relationship waiting to explode) this will make the partner do crazy things either to beat down the ‘fear’ of the ticking “time bomb”, or to just create a false "anti-bomb" solution!

What does this mean?

When a partner is insecure (worst in the early stages of a new marriage); he or she will try to balance this emotional burden most times by acting or behaving in such a way to show his or her insecurity to the other partner (a kind of early signs of "I'm getting it up to here!"); which if the partner doesn’t “read” this behavior on time, such acts (by the estranged partner) can be pushed to the extreme to cause (most times) unfaithfulness, cheating, which is adultery.

It’s simple, when your partner is “afraid” or suspicious in some way, of some sort, or some thing; Sometimes their counter-reactions may prove fatal. **So here’s a tip, try not to cause fears or suspicion in the mind (or heart) or imagination of your partner* Strive to be crystal clear like diamond.

Young couples should know that marriage at the early stage is TOUGH! At the early stage of marriage, you may have a whole lot of things to discover in your spouse: Her eating habits, his spending habits, her snoring habits, his drinking habits etc. Everything will show forth in the early part of the marriage, why? Because this is no more that person that tried to appear COOL in all his ways (or her ways) but here is the real person, the real Lady you married, the REAL MAN! So don’t go berserk at this point of your discovery. Rather begin to realize it is called: MARRIAGE.

Then again, Diabolism is NOT allowed in a relationship! A relationship should not be FORCED upon someone, either by meta-physical manifestations, Juju (black magic), and/or witchcraft.

And lastly (lastly for now, coz we’re still digging deep into the issues of the above couples); ALL marriage issues ARE AMENDABLE!

Please note...

To be Continued...

#CelebrityScope2 - 'BlackMagic'

Nigerian rapper/vocalist/songwriter Blackmagic was born and raised in Lagos. He grew up Efemena Mukoro and began work as a musician in the late 2000s, developing the amateur interest in sound recording and rapping he explored in his younger days into a full-on hip-hop persona named Ejay. He quit school to focus on music and eventually scored a deal with Syndik8 Records in 2010 with his unique style that drew on soul, Afro-beat, and a humorous, sometimes quirky rap style. He issued several singles over the next few years as well as his 2011 debut album, Blackmagic 1.0, and its 2013 follow-up, Blackmagic 2.0. Around 2013 Mukoro parted ways with Syndik8 and officially changed his stage name (which had morphed through variations of Ejay and Ejay Blackmagic) to simply Blackmagic. From there he continued making new music with a focus on collaboration, offering up music crafted with other artists such as 2015's Black Friday with Kid Konnect and the 2016 single "Wonder" with trap superstar Fetty Wap.

#CelebrityScope1 - 'Teni'

In an age where the pursuit of sexiness is an industry pillar, Teni hugs her dungarees and large shirts, takes joy rides in Tricycles and enjoys trips via canoes to distant lands.
“Teni Entertainer”.
That’s the name that rings across all platforms in Nigeria. It started like a lone whisper in December 2016, and slowly began a crescendo into our ears and our hearts.
She sings when she wants, drops covers across all media platforms, freestyles with abandon, and shines her talent upon all who come across her.

Born Teniola Apata, Teni Entertainer is one of Nigeria’s fastest rising musicians breaking new grounds in the music industry.
Her sojourn in music began at age of two in the school band and since then, she has made several appearances, rocked many stages and wowed the crowd both locally and internationally performing for top dignitaries and at sold out concerts. Her stage craft has always got people talking.
Teni however kickstarted her career in 2016 when she got signed to Magic Fingers Records owned by one of Nigeria’s most talented producers and serial hit maker, Shizzi.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, her current single titled 'Case' has been receiving positive reviews and feedback since its release. The prayer themed new song which was brilliantly delivered by the music sensation put her vocal dexterity and lyrical prowess on full display.
Without any hype, the timeless classic shows more musical diversity of the remarkable singer and it’s very infectious. The enthralling lyrics of the song coupled with her vocal charms has made it everybody’s favourite.

Pulse Music connects with Teni in this interview, as we dig deep into her mind to discover what makes her tick, fuels the music, and her plans for Nigeria. That conversation has been edited and presented below.

When I was 3, I played drums for Buba Marwa, then when Bola Tinubu became Governor, I played for him. I also played for Fashola, when he was governor. I always knew I would end up doing something in the entertainment world. Shizzi is someone that I’ve learnt so much from and there’s no better person to share greatness with, than him. He believed in me since the first time I met him in 2013.
You are sisters with Niniola, how does her work affect your push for success?
>>> I’m proudd of her and how she has accomplished by setting good examples and laying a good path. Her work doesn’t affect me, it encourages and inspires me to be a better musician.
The achievement divide that separates men and women. Do you think the Industry discriminates against female advancement?
>>> I don’t think so. I think the industry is beginning to accept females and the transition is going smoothly.
What does the rest of 2017 look like? What can we keep an eye out for?
>>> It’s looking bright; me and my team are working strongly together. I can’t do it on my own. With God, 2017 will be one to remember. Greatness can be achieved.
