Tyla is coming to Lagos, Nigeria for A*POP World Tour

South African music star Tyla is bringing her highly anticipated A*POP World Tour to Lagos, with a concert scheduled for December 22.

The singer unveiled the tour dates on Monday, confirming that the 34-city run will support her recently released sophomore album, APOP*, which dropped on July 24. 

Organized by Live Nation, the tour will see Tyla perform across Europe, North America and Africa, making it her most ambitious live outing to date.

Although the Lagos venue has not yet been announced, the city has been confirmed as the first African destination on the tour. 

After Nigeria, Tyla will head to Cape Town on January 4, 2027, before wrapping up the African leg in Johannesburg on January 9.

The world tour kicks off in Paris on October 12 before moving through several major European cities, including London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Stockholm and Copenhagen. 

Tyla will then take the show across North America with performances in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

The A*POP World Tour represents a major career milestone for the Grammy-winning singer, becoming her first headline tour spanning three continents. 

Her previous We Wanna Party Tour in 2025 was limited to Asia, while earlier international performances were largely promotional appearances rather than a full-scale headline tour.

Nigerian music stars are taking center stage in Hollywood's highly anticipated fantasy film, Children of Blood and Bone.

The upcoming Paramount Pictures adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling novel is set to feature some of Nigeria's biggest music exports, both on screen and behind the scenes.

Ayra Starr is set to make her acting debut in the film, marking a major milestone in her career beyond music. 

On the musical front, Grammy-winning singer Tems has been named Executive Producer and Curator of the official soundtrack, contributing three original songs created exclusively for the project.

Joining her is Burna Boy, who will serve as Executive Music Consultant, while BNXN and Fireboy DML have also been confirmed as part of the film's soundtrack lineup.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone brings together an impressive cast, including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, and Amandla Stenberg.

With Nigerian artists playing key creative roles both on screen and in the film's music, Children of Blood and Bone is shaping up to be another landmark moment for Afrobeats and African storytelling on the global stage.

Davido opens up about the deeper message behind 'I Know Who I Be'

 

Afrobeats star Davido has opened up about the impact he hopes his music has on listeners, saying nothing gives him greater satisfaction than knowing his songs encourage people who struggle with confidence and self-belief.

Speaking during an interview with a music platform while breaking down the lyrics of his song I Know Who I Be, the singer said hearing that his music motivates others is one of the most rewarding parts of his career.

"I'm just happy that my music is bringing confidence to people who don't have the motivation," he said.

Davido explained that I Know Who I Be is built around the idea of embracing individuality rather than comparing yourself to others. 

According to him, everyone has a different journey, and true confidence comes from accepting and living your own story.

"You can't live my story. You should be confident enough to live your story," he said.

The award-winning singer also highlighted what he believes makes African music unique, noting that even songs with deeply personal or emotional messages are often delivered through energetic, danceable sounds.

Reflecting on the music video for the track, Davido described it as an emotional reminder of how far he and his longtime friends have come. 

He recalled the days when they had to secretly leave home to make music and perform, contrasting that period with the present, where they proudly returned to the same location to film a professional music video.

"If you look at the video, the full-circle moment was my guys and me in black suits. Some of my friends and I used to sneak out to do music and perform at shows. Now everybody is proud of me. We are standing in the same place we used to hide in, and now we are shooting a whole music video."
