Mr Eazi - 'Nothing like streaming farming in Nigeria'

Mr Eazi addresses streaming farming allegations in Nigeria

Nigerian music star and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has responded to allegations of "stream farming" in the country’s music industry.

The controversy was reignited when a tweet called for Apple Music to investigate streams coming from Nigeria, claiming that many were artificially generated.

The tweet read, “DEAR @APPLEMUSIC, YOU REALLY NEED TO INVESTIGATE THE STREAMS COMING FROM NIGERIA. THERE IS A LOT OF STREAMS FARMING CURRENTLY GOING ON!”

In a swift reply, Mr Eazi dismissed the allegations, tweeting: “There is nothing like streaming farming in Nigeria Please! No need for investigations we are a vibrant music consuming people hence the numbers you see!”

The concept of stream farming involves artificially inflating streaming numbers on music platforms to create the illusion of popularity.

While it has been a topic of debate globally, some critics allege that it is rampant in Nigeria, with even prominent artists suspected of engaging in the practice.

Mr Eazi, however, attributed the impressive streaming numbers in Nigeria to the genuine enthusiasm of the country’s music fans.
